A woman in Alice Springs was assaulted in her home by a male youth with a weapon during a break-in, while police are looking for a group who stole a ute from a police compound which was later allegedly used to try and ram a police car, NT Police said.

NT Police director of communications Mark Wilton said in a statement that about 12.40am Tuesday a male and a female youth reportedly broke into a home in Patterson Crescent in Larapinta.
