A 45-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly using a car to run over her partner in Alice Springs, NT Police said.

Police director of communications Mark Wilton said in a statement that about 6:30pm on Saturday the woman allegedly ran over her 53-year-old male partner with a white Ford Laser hatchback on Mahomed St in The Gap, Alice Springs.

He said the woman stopped her vehicle 50 metres after she hit the man. The victim was taken to Alice Springs Hospital but police did not disclose his condition.

Mr Wilton said the driver tested positive for alcohol but did not say if she had exceeded the legal limit. He said she was in custody and would be charged with unspecified charges.
