An 18-year-old woman has been arrested after she allegedly broke into an Anula house and tried to steal from the residents’ bedroom while they slept on Monday morning, NT Police have said.

Police media manager Rob Cross said in a statement that just before 2:30am, the woman allegedly broke into the Yanyula Drive house and started searching through the property.

Mr Cross said she woke the residents while attempting to steal from their bedroom.

The male resident confronted the alleged offender, who allegedly ran out of the house and tried to steal their vehicle to get away but the vehicle stalled, Mr Cross said.

He said the alleged offender then scaled the fence to flee, and hit the man in the face.

Mr Cross said she was seen by police later in Kohinoor St, and a cordon was put in place with the Dog Operations Unit brought in to arrest her.

The woman has been charged with aggravated robbery, aggravated unlawful entry, and unlawful use of motor vehicle, and was remanded in custody to appear before Darwin Local Court on Tuesday, Mr Cross said.
