The NT Government awarded $1.9 billion in government contracts in 2023 through 1,662 awarded tenders, an NT Independent analysis has found, with construction, consultants and IT companies cashing in big.
BMD Constructions Pty Ltd and Clough Projects Australia Pty Ltd are the biggest winners in government sweeps, after being awarded nearly $420 million for a single contract for the now long-delayed development of the Darwin Ship Lift Facility at East Arm. The work involves constructing and commissioning the ship lift, wharves, and additional hardstand area for ship repair, according to the tender.

Whoever was involved in making a custom Medical system and not buying one of the many off the shelf systems used by the other 300 hospitals in Australia, warrants a investigation!!!
No surprises there, losers become winners with the help of a totally incompetent tender system which (I have dealt with for more than 40 years from a supplier perspective) has awarded contracts to compamies that lie about their credentials and are never held to account when their offerings are proved to be innacurate or outright bullshit. Put a clause in the tender that ‘should their claims prove to be dishonest’ then payment should be refunded. I am not a lawyer but the tender process within the Government has been a joke as those who assess the tenders have no idea. Please protect us from incompetent Public Servants and ‘Consultants’ oh yeah and Politicians.
