The Royal Darwin and Palmerston hospitals have enacted ‘code yellow’ protocols after a spike in demand over the last week, the government said.

Code yellow alerts enable hospitals to take steps to ease the strain on the health system, including discharging patients earlier than normal and cancelling non-life-threatening surgeries.
