Two women have been killed and another taken to hospital after all three were struck by a car on Trower Road in Brinkin last night, NT Police said.
The fatal crash occurred around 1:40am Thursday, when a vehicle struck the three women on Trower Road near Casuarina beach. St John Ambulance and police attended the scene where the two victims, aged 62 and 47, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The third woman, whose age was not provided, was taken to hospital with unspecified injuries.
No details of the vehicle involved were provided by police, but reports indicated the driver did not stop at the scene and is still at large.
“The Major Crash Investigation Unit also attended and is currently interviewing witnesses to gather details about the circumstances of the crash,” police said in a statement.
“Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has dash-cam footage from the area to contact them on 131 444.”
The two deaths brings the number of people killed on Territory roads to 56 this year, compared to 26 at the same time last year, police said.
