Two people were killed and a third adult was taken to Tennant Creek Hospital following a single vehicle rollover 75km north of Tennant Creek on the Stuart Highway, NT Police said.
Detectives from Tennant Creek and Major Crash investigators have reopened the highway after one lane was closed for most of the day while investigations continue.
Police said they received a report about the crash around 6am and found the two adults deceased at the scene. A third person was taken to hospital but police provided no details on their condition Thursday afternoon.
By late afternoon some road restrictions remained in place.
“The Stuart Highway is open, however road restrictions will remain in place and motorists should expect delays for the remainder of the day,” police said in a statement.
“Drivers are urged to slow down and use caution when approaching the area.
“Police detectives from Tennant Creek and Major Crash are currently on scene determining the circumstances of the crash.”
