The “extensive” manhunt for two young offenders who escaped the Alice Springs youth prison on Tuesday has ended after the pair turned themselves in to police with the support of their families on Wednesday night, the Corrections Commissioner said.

The two 17-year-olds spent the night at the Alice Springs police station and were expected to front court this morning, charged with escaping from lawful custody and damage to property.
