Latest News poll shows young voters walking away from Voice
The Indigenous Voice to Parliament has lost more support in a concerning trend for Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, with younger voters abandoning the Yes camp just days out from polling day, Sky News has reported. As Australians gear up to head to the polling booth on Saturday, support for the proposed constitutional change dropped two points to its lowest level at 34 per cent, in a News poll of 1,225 voters nationally, taken between October 3 and October 6 and conducted for The Australian. The Yes camp has also lost support from the younger voters with backing from the 18-34 age bracket falling below 50 per cent for the first time.

Australia assures Japan’s investments in energy transition
AUSTRALIA and Japan committed to working together to improve cooperation on energy and climate goals following a bilateral meeting, The Business Times reported. Canberra moved to calm fears in Tokyo that stricter emissions targets will impose higher costs for fossil fuel projects. Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Yasutoshi Nishimura went into the meeting seeking assurances over the stability of Australia’s investment environment, citing a written response to questions from the Japanese minister. Japan is heavily reliant on Australian gas exports.
Australia sees Philippine agriculture, tech, and education as a promising market
AUSTRALIA’s investment and education promotion agency said it considers the Philippines a promising market for its agriculture, cybersecurity, and education companies, Business World has reported. It added that Australian industries long established in the Philippines like mining are also positive on the country’s prospects. “We are very bullish about the prospects for Philippine economic growth and correspondingly, we are also very focused and also very hopeful about increasing links between Australia and the Philippines in terms of trade, economic, and education ties,” Austrade Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner Christopher Lim said.
