Australia’s domestic violence legal services say they are in crisis mode. One is turning away 1,000 people in need every day due to a funding shortfall, the Bendigo Advertiser reported. Community Legal Centres Australia said 1,000 people are denied its assistance every day due to a lack of funding. Albanese government presiding over ‘immigration detention disaster’

Sky News host Chris Kenny has slammed the Albanese government’s “immigration detention disaster” which is putting Australian safety “at risk”. A Perth couple were allegedly attacked in their home by one of the 150 immigration detainees released following a High Court decision last year. “The Albanese Labor government is presiding over an immigration detention disaster,” Mr Kenny said. “This long-running cluster mess of government incompetence has placed the safety of law-abiding Australians at risk. “This is terrible.”

Australia is now a top destination for ex-pats

For the first time, Australia is named the No. 1 destination in the world for professionals seeking international relocation, the Financial Review reported. A new report from Boston Consulting Group, based on a survey of more than 150,000 professionals across 188 countries, found that Australia’s post-pandemic jobs boom had helped the country supplant Canada as the most desirable destination for expats globally. The top 10 countries were Australia, the US, Canada, the UK, Germany, Japan, Switzerland, Singapore, France and Spain.

PM Albanese to clear up Alice Springs funding debate

Sky News Northern Australia Correspondent Matt Cunningham says Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is “keen” to clear up any controversy about Alice Springs funding. The Prime Minister insists the hundreds of millions of dollars committed to Central Australia will help address Alice Springs issues. There are concerns about how the $250 million announced last year is being spent. “He was yesterday attending the Central Australian Aboriginal Congress and the new health hub there that has received funding as part of that deal,” Mr Cunningham said. “Mr Albanese says that the feedback he is getting is that this money that was committed when he travelled to Alice Springs last January is having a positive impact.”
