Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will meet his Fiji counterpart in Suva on Wednesday to press Canberra’s message that its $245 billion nuclear-powered submarine programme does not violate its nuclear non-proliferation commitments, Reuters has reported. Power bills to rise at least 20 per cent in eastern Australia
Electricity prices in eastern Australia are likely to increase at least 20 per cent starting July, Reuters reported. The Australian Energy Regulator sees a 20 to 22 per cent increase in prices for most residential customers and 15 to 25 per cent for small businesses. Power bills could have risen by 40 to 50 per cent if there was no intervention by the federal government to cap energy prices.

Samsung has released an Enterprise Edition of the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Ultra in Australia, GSM Arena has reported. The phone models have the same hardware as the regular S23 models but feature more advanced enterprise tools built in. Samsung will keep the two Enterprise Edition phones available for two years after launch and will supply critical OS updates and security patches for up to five years.

Australians consumed 14 tonnes of illegal drugs in the last 12 months
The National Wastewater Drug Monitoring Program revealed that Australians consumed more than 14 tonnes of methylamphetamine, cocaine, MDMA, and heroin (with an estimated street value of $10 billion) during the past 12 months. Sydney recorded the most cocaine use and the second-highest MDMA use in all the Australian capital cities. Melbourne came in as the capital city with the highest MDMA use, with regional South Australians using the highest amount of MDMA use in the country. Regional Queensland has the highest amount of ketamine use.
Adelaide was the capital city with the highest amount of methylamphetamine use, while Hobart was the capital city with the highest oxycodone use. The Northern Territory came in as having the highest levels of alcohol consumption in all of Australia, 9 News has reported.
