Australia’s defence needs to prioritise ‘human’ over ‘hardware’

A major review of Australia’s defence strategies will be released before the upcoming budget next month but Australia needs to think “beyond the hardware” and “address the human”, according to retired Major General Gus McLachlan. Submarines are “all well and good” but there needs to be a priority on investing resources into the training of Australian defence personnel, Mr McLachlan, Sky News Australia has reported.

Australia’s regional rental crisis has already peaked

Australia’s rental crisis has “peaked” across regional areas with the latest advice for tenants to move out of the city, Real Estate.com has reported. SQM Research made the bold claim on the back of data that has revealed national residential property rental vacancy rates rose to 1.1 per cent in March 2023. The SQM report stated that regional rental vacancy rates rose sharply as a “sign of a population flow reversal back to the cities”.
