A 73-year-old tourist from Victoria has been discovered by authorities in thick terrain after becoming lost in Kakadu yesterday.
Police reported that they were notified that a man had not returned from a walk near Nawurlandja Lookout.
The man was later located about one km off the track, over two cliff faces and in thick terrain after a police search of the area.
The man was brought to the Jabiru Health Centre after suffering from dehydration and exposure.
“This was an excellent result and a timely reminder to plan your trip, always carry food and water, be prepared with suitable clothing and equipment and avoid walking alone,” said Senior Constable Mark Bond.
“If you get lost and disoriented, contact someone immediately and stay where you are so rescuers can get to you.”
