Tourism Central Australia is calling on the NT Government to relax bottle shop operating hours in Alice Springs amid reports by tourism operators that business had declined by up to 50 per cent during the 2023 tourist season.
The two dry days per week and limited trading hours were put in effect in the town in January last year by the NT government in an effort to curb the surge in alcohol-related harm after the NT Labor Government permitted alcohol bans to end with nothing to replace them.
Grog has a little to do with lack of tourists. Crime has a big bit to do with lack of tourists. Its all too hard for the powers to be to recognise this.
