If a small business underestimated a project by almost 300% it would go broke. Inflation was predictable, as were certain material shortages, so why the epic cost blow-out? Ordinarily, I and many others would call for a formal inquiry but all this seems to achieve is a replica cost blowout and the outcome forever hidden, as in the three separate NT Transport Cost inquiries. Either the truth gets buried or fabricated, forcing the conclusion that at both ends of the process, the real problem is corrupt government.
In the past, I have dealt with incompetent public employees who assess government contracts and tenders. This aspect of the Public Service is an absolute joke.
Tenders are won with lies and variations which these plebs don’t even understand. The total incompetence of the ‘Public Service’ is beyond belief.
If we want to reign in public spending, we need first to employ competent Public Servants who at least understand Tendering and Contracting, and are not so gullible to the lies offered by Tenderers. Do the research, it is your job!!!
Anything less is dereliction of duties.
Common story. Drastic change needed.
