Offenders rammed the front gate of an Alice Springs business and stole three vehicles overnight, NT Police said.
Police director of communications Mark Wilton said that about 10.30pm Monday police were notified that an unknown number of alleged offenders rammed the front gate of a business on Ghan Road, Ciccone and stole multiple sets of vehicle keys.
“The offenders fled the scene in three stolen vehicles prior to police arrival,” Mr Wilton said.
“The vehicles, in addition to four sets of car keys, were subsequently tracked and located abandoned at different locations across Alice Springs.”
Mr Wilton said the offenders have not been caught.
Yesterday Police Commissioner Michael Murphy ordered a three-day curfew for Alice Springs following days of serious incidents in the troubled town, that saw four off-duty police officers bashed and robbed over the weekend and another officer run over by a car outside a bottle shop late last week.
Police are asking anyone with information about the vehicle thefts, particularly with CCTV or dash cam footage from Ghan Road, Ciccone, to call them on 131 444 (quote reference NTP2400066782), or make an anonymous report by calling Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report it through the website.
