Three teens have been arrested after they allegedly stole an elderly woman’s car and robbed her at knifepoint in the Palmerston suburb of Gray on Thursday afternoon, NT Police said.

The teens, aged 13, 15 and 17, then took the car on an erratic joyride through the Greater Darwin region, eventually crashing the car in Moulden.

Police said CCTV operators tracked the vehicle while patrol dog Drax was deployed after the car crashed “to keep the occupants inside the vehicle until Strike Force Trident and general duties members arrived”.

“The group are expected to be charged later today with aggravated robbery and unlawful use of a motor vehicle,” police said in a statement.

It was not disclosed if any of the youths were on bail at the time.
