Police Commissioner Michael Murphy has announced three new assistant commissioners with the acting assistant commissioner James Gray-Spence, who is one of the subjects of the joint ICAC – NT Police investigation into racism in the Territory Response Group, missing out on securing the job permanently.
The three who have been promoted are Janelle Tonkin, Matt Hollamby, and Peter Kennon, with Mr Murphy having previously announced there would only be one deputy commissioner under his command, but six assistant commissioners instead of four.
How many Aboriginal police officers are/have been in senior management roles over time?
My understanding is that none have ever been promoted to even Senior Sergeant level even in an acting capacity.
