Roughly 30 young offenders with a long list of prior crimes across the Northern Territory have had their records wiped clean following the Fyles Government’s changes to the age of criminal responsibility that took effect Tuesday, including fingerprints and DNA evidence deleted from police databases.
Sources with knowledge of the crimes said some of those offenders, aged between 10 and 12 years, had “committed more armed robberies than they’ve had birthdays” and in some cases, those crimes included sexual assaults of smaller children.

All done without a thought for having sufficient programs in place and a lack of funding for providers.
