CLP Opposition Leader Lia Finocchiaro delivered her budget reply speech in Parliament Wednesday, criticising Labor’s budget for not providing new funding for community safety amid a crime crisis, but found herself criticised for promising political positions to her team amid leadership tensions in the CLP.
Ms Finocchiaro ended her speech by telling Parliament that Member for Namatjira Bill Yan has been promoted to the role of shadow treasurer, which implied he will be the CLP’s treasurer if elected next year, which was immediately ridiculed by Labor as a political payoff.
