A 14-year-old boy who allegedly stole a bow and arrows from a store on Cavenagh Street reportedly fired one of the arrows at a security guard after being approached, NT Police said.
Police received a report of the robbery around 4:30pm on Wednesday.
The alleged culprit was then sighted by a security guard outside St Mary’s Cathedral, who attempted to engage with the youth who then allegedly fired one arrow “in the direction of the security guard”, police said.
No injuries were reported and the youth then fled towards the end of Smith Street.
CCTV operators tracked the boy’s movements and alerted police to where he was. A cordon was established and he was arrested “without further incident”, police said.
The 14-year-old was charged with recklessly endangering serious harm, going armed in public, possessing/carrying/using a controlled weapon and a drug offence.
He was expected to appear in court today.
