A teenager was the victim of a pushbike jacking in Alice Springs when a group threatened him with an unspecified edged weapon, NT Police said.

Police director of communications Mark Wilton said in a statement that about 4pm Tuesday, three males of unspecified ages allegedly stole a bike from a 14-year-old boy in Araluen.

“The victim was riding his bike along Larapinta Drive near Memorial Avenue when he was stopped by three male offenders, one of whom was allegedly armed with an edged weapon,” he said.

“The armed offender allegedly threatened the victim and demanded he hand over the bike. The three offenders then fled the scene with the bike.”

Mr Wilton said the bike was a grey and orange Avanti mountain bike, and one of the alleged offenders was reportedly wearing a red jumper and black pants.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the theft, or anyone who knows where the bike is, to call them on 131 444 (quote P24157610), or make an anonymous report to Crime Stoppers by calling 1800 333 000, or report through the website.
