Renowned national and local musicians including Paul Kelly will be performing at ‘The Warm-Up’ concert at Anzac Oval in Alice Springs this Saturday at 2:30pm, one year out from the Alice Springs Masters Games.

The free event will also mark the opening day of registration for the 2024 ASMG event scheduled for next October. Sports on offer for the event include swimming, cricket, cycling, go-karting, and dart competition.

Melbourne-based Steph Strings will open for Australian music icons Paul Kelly and NT’s James Range Band for the event.

“I’m incredibly honoured to be opening for Paul in Alice Springs, I feel like it’s not real, that’s how special it is,” Ms Strings said. “It’s my first time in Alice Springs too, so I’m really looking forward to discovering a new part of Australia and performing with the GOAT himself.”

The Warm-Up event also coincides with the Red Centre Mile, a friendly sports competition made possible with the collaboration of the Alice Springs Running and Walking Club, which is open to competitive and non-competitive runners.

Other entertainment to enjoy at the event includes games, the Alice Springs Reptile Petting Zoo, AFL activities by AFL NT, face painting, the mechanical surfboard, mini golf and a podium photo space.

“The Warm-Up celebrates the best of Alice Springs, and we can’t wait to see locals get behind this event. With the Colour Frenzy, Red Centre Mile, Paul Kelly, Steph Strings, James Range Band and heaps of children’s entertainment, there’s plenty for people to get involved in,” NT Major Events Company CEO Suzana Bishop said.

“The Warm-Up is also the perfect opportunity to find out more about next year’s Alice Springs Masters Games, which will give sports fans from around Australia the chance to take part in their favourite sports in a friendly competition with like-minded people.”

  1. I would wager that this concert was also planned as a referendum yes celebration.
