A special meeting of the Barkly Regional Council organised to offer Mayor Jeffrey McLaughlin a chance to explain himself over a video depicting him sitting on a child while another man yelled at the boy, threatened to kill him, and forced his head down with a boot, has been cancelled due to “legal advice”.

The NT Independent first reported the contents of the video on Friday afternoon, with other media since reporting on it nationally, with calls for Mr McLaughlin to stand down from his mayoral role or be sacked from it.

  1. I don’t see anyone up in arms about the 8 year olds that attacked a Malak business owner resulting in the loss of his eye and then no charges laid against them even though they are well known to Police
    Case closed
    Disgusting result
