A 26-year-old Alice Springs service station worker was stabbed on Sunday morning after confronting two males stealing merchandise, NT Police said, while another Darwin service station employee was threatened with an “edged weapon” in a similar situation on Friday night.

The latest worker stabbing incident comes days after 71-year-old Linford Feick was allegedly stabbed to death in his Nightcliff shop last Wednesday by an 18-year-old he confronted after witnessing him steal.

Police said the 26-year-old Alice Springs worker sustained non-life threatening injuries on Sunday morning when he confronted two men he believed had stolen items from the Sadadeen service station around 10:40am.

Police said CCTV footage shows the two males pushing the employee to the ground outside, when one male then punched him in the head while he was down. While still on the ground, the other male “lunged at” the employee, stabbing him in the arm with the “edged weapon”, police said.

“Both offenders then walked from the location and remain outstanding,” police said in a statement.

“St John Ambulance and Police were called immediately after the offenders had left.”

Police are looking to speak to these men.

NT Police added they believe the two males pictured “may be able to help with their inquiries and are keen to talk to them”,

The public has been warned not to approach the males if they see them and immediately call police.

“Police are also urging anyone with information in relation to this incident, or who may know the two people pictured to make contact on 131 444 and reference job number P25115298. You can make anonymous reports via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via https://crimestoppersnt.com.au/.”

Meanwhile, on Friday night, two females allegedly threatened to stab a Darwin service station worker after he witnessed them steal “a number of items”.

Police said they received a call from a security company around 10:27pm that the Vanderlin Drive United station was being held up by armed offenders.

The two women, aged 21 and 23, allegedly threatened the worker with an “edged weapon” after he confronted them over the alleged theft. Police said the employee was able to get behind the service counter and lock the door before he was attacked.

“The employee then opened the main doors to allow the offenders to exit the store where they proceeded to throw rocks and tools at the station window,” police said in a statement.

“Soon after they were located and arrested and had in their possession a number of stolen items and edged weapons.

“The offenders are in custody and are set to appear in Darwin Local Court on Monday, 28 April.”

Police did not say what charges the women were expected to face or if they were on bail at the time of the incident.

In a further unrelated Alice Springs incident, NT Police said they are also looking for information on a serious assault that occurred during the early evening on Thursday, when a man was attacked in a residence with an axe.

Police said that at approximately 6:20 pm, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received a report of an incident at a residence in Larapinta, where an 18-year-old male attacked a 41-year-old man with an axe.

Police alleged the attacker, who is known to the victim, swung the axe toward the victim’s head.

In an effort to protect himself, the 41-year-old victim lifted his arm and sustained a severe cut to his forearm during the assault. The assailant then left the scene accompanied by the victim’s ex-partner.

Emergency services arrived shortly after the incident, and first aid was provided to the injured man.

St John Ambulance transported him to Alice Springs Hospital for further medical treatment.

The suspect has yet to be apprehended, and police encourage anyone with relevant details to contact them.

Those with information can contact 131 444 and reference job number P25114821. Anonymous reports can also be made via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or https://crimestoppersnt.com.au/.

  1. It is not what you do know . . . that worries you. It is what you DO NOT KNOW. THAT WORRIES?
Far too many young adults, adolescent recidivist, see incarceration as a means whereby friendships or pay-backs occupy time and
opportunities? In this current age of escalating criminality and physical violence; we territorians need alternate options that
    ‘concern’ said malcontents, recidivists.

And no . . . we are not talking “Boot” Camps / Juvenile Detention Centres; that lack virtually every level of requirement.

Rather, a restricting environment that reinforces personal concern, and denies expectations. There are options. Historically, ‘Cells’
either stone, cement, steel bars. Limited, restricted space.
