Three teens who allegedly assaulted a worker and a member of the public during a “senseless and cowardly” crime spree in Palmerston on Tuesday night have been arrested by the NT Police with the help of CCTV and the dog unit, police said.

The teens, aged 13, 16 and 17, allegedly assaulted a worker at the Palmerston Shopping Centre around 10:30pm before fleeing the scene, police said.

The group then stole “a number” of items from a nearby service station before attending a business on Essington Ave where they allegedly damaged a parked vehicle and assaulted the owner of the car when confronted.

Strike Force Trident detectives used CCTV footage from the area to identify the three teens who were arrested at different residences on Thursday with the assistance of the dog unit.

“Vigilant CCTV operators allowed us to quickly identify all those involved,” said Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Bland .

“These were senseless, cowardly attacks on unsuspecting community members.

“Anyone who witnessed any of these incidents is urged to make contact on 131 444. Please quote reference 10168573. You can also make a report through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”

The 16 and 17-year-old were charged with serious breach of bail, aggravated assault, engaging in violent conduct and stealing among other charges. The 13-year-old was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, damaging property, and engaging in violent conduct among other charges.

They were to appear in court on Friday.
