The NT Police misinformed the public when it described a man who had his eye gouged out by a stick at a service station earlier this month as a passerby, while the union representing store workers has called the Fyles Government out for putting workers’ safety at risk by turning mandatory safety audits of late night businesses into a voluntary scheme.

The NT Police media unit issued a statement from an un-named spokesperson on October 2, saying that up to three youths had entered a Malak service station, with one allegedly armed with a stick the night before.
