RSPCA tips to keep pets safe on Territory Day

Territorians are once again set to make a big bang on Territory Day on Friday and the RSPCA has tips for pet owners to keep them safe during the fireworks.

RSPCA NT general manager Peter King said it is important to have your pets microchipped and registered in case they escape during the noisy celebration.

“If you are leaving your house to celebrate, please make sure you keep your pet in a safe and secure place at home, with plenty of food and water. Some soft music, a favourite toy or the TV left on can sometimes help also,” he said.

Mr King said pet owners could get more information on how to help their pets during traumatic times and emergencies from their local council, or on the RSPCA website, where they can also get health tips for pets.
