City of Darwin staff did not provide enough detail about staffing costs and contracted service provider expenses to councillors to justify the recent 5.5 per cent rates increase for 2026-27, a lone councillor has said while calling for better transparency on operational expenditure at council.
Councillor Shani Carson was the only elected member to vote against the 5.5 per cent rates increase because she said staff did not properly explain the staffing costs and contracts, which together accounts for more than 72 per cent of the council’s forecast spending.
Vote out all the Councillors and Mayor Peter Styles!!!!
Clearly there is only one counsellor with the intelligence to ask the right questions. A very rudimentary question at that. 10 failed that very simple test.
Its a disgrace.
How much is CoD CEO Simone Saunders annual salary? As Ms Saunders is supporting multiple Trespass Notices without evidence a rigorous enquiry is needed.
Can the Mayor and or the councillors confirm the rate payers are not paying for the Vastkalis tower??
