Proposed changes to the NT ICAC Act that would prevent the anti-corruption commissioner from naming politicians and public servants found to have engaged in misconduct in certain circumstances is “inappropriate” for an independent investigative body, a leading anti-corruption expert has said.
The proposed changes to the Act were finally made public last month following a two-year review requested by the NT Labor Government and carried out by former Department of Attorney General and Justice chief executive Greg Shanahan, who was personally appointed to conduct the review by former chief minister Michael Gunner.
Politicians and Government people can not be named? Can the public decide on that in August 2024?
