NT Police are asking the public to dob in Darwin man Tyson Powell but not to approach him, with officers suspecting him of ramming a police car in Woolner last month.

Police media manager Margaret McKeown said in a statement police “believe Mr Powell can assist with enquiries in relation” to the Woolner incident.

In a previous statement in late April, police said that about 2.30pm on April 22 police received reports the driver of a silver Ford Falcon sedan had threatened their front passenger with a knife.

Police said while officers were walking up to the car, which was parked outside a business on Bishop St, Woolner, the driver allegedly reversed at them before hitting the police car and then driving off.

Ms McKeown said police gave chase but stopped the pursuit due to the alleged perpetrator allegedly driving dangerously.

She said that two days later detectives arrested a 34-year-old man, who they believed to be the passenger, and who was bailed in relation to outstanding warrants.

Police are urging people not to approach the alleged offender and instead call 131 444, or report anonymously through Crime Stoppers by calling 1800 333 000.
