A 33-year old woman has died in a single vehicle rollover South of Darwin overnight.

Police officers happened across the crash along the Stuart Highway, Elizabeth Valley Road near Noonamah at 10:30pm last night.

The initial investigation revealed that a light blue 2004 model Toyota Corolla hatchback left the road while travelling inbound, rolled a number of times, and crashed into trees.

NT Police watch commander Vicki Coum said the woman had to be extricated out of the vehicle.

St John Ambulance responded to the accident and removed the woman from the vehicle but she unfortunately died at the scene. She was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

NT Police Major Crash Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the cause of the crash.

“Detectives are seeking assistance from any witnesses, specifically anyone who travelled along the Stuart Highway south of Darwin yesterday evening,” police spokeswoman Chantelle Duetrom said in a statement. “Police would also like to speak to anyone who observed the light blue 2004 model Toyota Corolla hatchback prior to the crash.”

Anyone who interacted with the woman since yesterday morning is also urged to contact the police to help with the investigations.

NT Police urge possible witnesses to contact them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Please quote reference number 9279785.
