A member of the NT Police executive has said an investigation into the alleged rape of a seven-year-old girl in Tennant Creek was not something the public “reasonably” needed to know about, appearing to contradict the agency’s official transparency guidelines, while police have refused to say when the alleged attack happened.
The NT Independent reported on Tuesday that police had suppressed the sexual assault of the child and refused to say if the offender has been arrested, which appeared to be the latest example of the suppression of serious sexual assaults by the NT Police, with the NT Independent having previously revealed the suppression, or delayed public release, of information about alleged rapes and sexual assaults, including of children.
Everything in the NT is political.
