A police officer suffered a fractured leg during a riot of 14 young people at the Don Dale youth detention centre overnight Wednesday, as inmates reportedly lit fires in different areas and climbed on to a roof where six of them remained until after 9am this morning.
Acting Police Commissioner Martin Dole said on Thursday morning that the officer had suffered a fractured leg after being hit by an unidentified item the youth inmates threw at police and staff while on the roof.
