Police caught six drug drivers but no drink drivers and also seized unspecified amounts of cannabis, methamphetamine, MDMA, ketamine, steroids, kava, and alcohol, along with a number of gold bars during a remote road safety operation, NT Police said.
Acting Senior Sergeant Aaron Evans said in a statement that Operation Hopkins ran from August 14 to 16 at the Queensland border and was done in in cooperation with Queensland Police, although he also said it was “along some of the Territory’s most remote areas” but did not specify where else it was conducted.
Two issues of concern: Too many rural / remote Communities more than likely have some knowledge of illegal actions such as described. Even if one or more community member quietly informed, signalled, such activity discreetly. There would soon be far fewer gold bars, drugs etc on-site? And even less loss of community cash / house disrepair / domestic violence? But that’s not how it works . . . does it? Rural / Remote is a choice. Only possible via poor- bugger ME . . . US!
