Police are searching for “an unknown male” after he allegedly broke into a northern suburbs home and threatened a resident with a weapon on Thursday morning.

NT Police said shortly before 9am, the male, who was not known to the residents, broke into the home on Lakes Crescent in Marrara and threatened a resident with a knife, or what police are calling an “edged weapon”, and knocking another resident to the ground before fleeing the scene.

Police said the suspect was heading the direction of Links Road when he was last seen.

“Serious Crime are investigating the incident, canvassing the area, processing the scene and reviewing CCTV,” said Detective Senior Sergeant Karl Day.

“The investigation is in its early stages and we are urging anyone who witnessed any suspicious behaviour in the area at that time, especially if you have dash cam footage, to make contact on 131 444.

“You can also make an anonymous report through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
