A 36-year-old woman is in custody after the stabbing death of a 26-year-old man in Palmerston overnight, NT Police said.

Police received a report last night around 8:10pm that a man had been “assaulted with an edged weapon” on Priest Circuit where St John Ambulance paramedics attempted to save the man’s life but he died at the scene.

Police said the 36-year-old woman, who was known to the man, was arrested at the scene and is expected to be charged later today.

“Investigations into this incident are ongoing,” said Det Supt Jak Evans in a statement.
