Police said the 34-year-old female was riding her bike around 5:45am when she was struck from behind by the quad bike.
The woman told police the quad bike rider did not stop to provide assistance or contact emergency services before “riding off in the company of another quad bike rider”, police said in a statement.
The woman was taken to Palmerston Regional Hospital with “extensive bruising and leg injuries”.
