An internal investigation has been launched into why an NT Police officer fired a shot at a man during an armed standoff at his Parap home on Thursday evening, in an unusual situation that ended 12 hours after it started.
Police said in a statement that they received reports of a man threatening residents of Somerville Gardens in Parap with a gun on Thursday around 5:50pm and arrived on the scene as the man returned to his home along Somerville Gardens where he refused to leave.
We have a police force unable to deal with a potential killer because it is more of an issue to fire a shot than be killed on the job. Fortunately nobody was hurt and it was just an idiot with a replica. No wonder police leave in droves when they realise it’s not the job they thought it would be.
What drama, a shot was fired. If shots are not to be fired from time to time don’t carry a firearm, give the police a water pistol . Who would be a copper in this environment?
