Interesting! Disciplinary notices – quite rightly by the sound of things – are issued against senior police officers for making disparaging comments about Indigenous folk. Yet a new Administrator is about to be appointed who, from all accounts has a history of making equally disparaging remarks about the people who constitute the great majority of our permanent population. I’m guessing he won’t receive a disciplinary notice.
Much as I love the Territory, there’s much about it that’s not to love.
In the past half-century, thousands of Territorians have been dismissed with “fuck you, you white cunt” when they have declined to donate a cigarette or money to some dusky supplicant. This abuse is an expression of abject racism. Not one such abuser has been taken to task for what occurs on a daily basis across urban NT.
Yet racial jokes, which have abounded prolifically and prosaically since cultures commenced colliding with each other around 30,000 years ago, are suddenly rated as more mortal than murder. Effing grow up, you mealy-mouthed parlour-posing lounge lizards.
Meanwhile, the key to ending juvenile criminality, family dysfunctionalism, and the cultural integrity upon which the potential for Aboriginal economic independence depends; Aboriginal traditional Law; never rates even a minute of demand on your pathetically diminished intellects.
THE REAL WORLD: The copper’s job is to grab dangerous and other criminals and protect members of the law-abiding community. Just STFU and let them get on with the job which, so far, they have done better than the police in any other state.
For the record, the only white Territorian I ever encountered who contributed significantly to Aboriginal socio-economic upward mobility was a copper, Dave Walter, who guided the transition from crime-ridden Bamyili to much-admired Burunga. I respect doers, not moralising parasites.
There is a lot of things wrong with the higher hierarchy in the NT police, but this is just a storm in a tea cup.
This is only a small “Karma Train’” pulling into the station for these 3 ‘ ‘over-promoted’ ‘Peter Principle’ wannabes, confirming again their levels of incompetence.
I hope the large karma freight train will come next and finish them off career-wise.
