Police charge man over break-ins, aggravated assault, but give no detail of victim of assault, or their injuries

An 18-year-old man has been charged with two aggravated break-ins, as well as aggravated robbery, and aggravated assault for alleged crimes in Alice Springs, NT Police said, but it has given no details of the victim of the alleged assault, any injuries, or how the charged man was alleged to have assaulted them.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Rob Kent said in a statement the man , on two separate occasions, allegedly broke into two premises in East Side and Braitling, on dates not specific by police.

“Strike Force Viper members arrested the man on Saturday and continue to investigate the matter to locate a second offender who remains unidentified,” he said.

Act Snr Sgt Kent said the man who was charged was allegedly identified through the Fingerprints Unit, and he has been charged with two counts of aggravated unlawful entry, two counts of damage to property, two counts of stealing, aggravated robbery, and aggravated assault, and was remanded in custody and will face court on January 23.
