A woman died at the scene after she was hit by a vehicle on the Stuart Highway in Berrimah on Wednesday night, NT Police said.
Police director of communications Mark Wilton said that about 8:25pm last night, the woman was hit by a vehicle in the southbound lanes of the Stuart Highway near the Hidden Valley Road intersection.
“The 42-year-old female pedestrian suffered critical injuries and died at the scene,” Mr Wilton said.
“The driver immediately stopped to render assistance and called emergency services. The driver tested negative for drugs and alcohol.”
Mr Wilton said the woman was the fifth person killed on Northern Territory roads this year.
Police are asking any witnesses, or anyone who may have dashcam footage of the area around that time, to call them on 131 444 (quote reference number P25069491).
