The parents of a child who was filmed while suspended Tennant Creek mayor Jeffrey McLaughlin sat on him and another man abused and threatened the boy, want criminal charges laid against the mayor, while also seeking legal advice about taking civil action against him and the NT News.
The parent’s seeking legal advice was first reported by the ABC, and a letter dated November 12, seen by the NT Independent, which was drafted by Barkly councillor Elliot McAdam, and signed by the boy’s parents, was sent to the North Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency’s principal legal officer stating Mr McLaughlin should be charged for using excessive force to restrain their 12-year-old son.
Why am I not surprised that the parents want to make money out of their child’s activities. If they cared so much maybe their child would not be breaking into homes and destroying lives. But then more money means more grog etc.
Won’t be long before that kid ends up in Don Dale or in adult prison.
