Two men have been arrested and charged after allegedly stealing bottles of booze from a Casuarina liquor shop, assaulting staff and allegedly throwing bottles at police officers during a foot chase on Monday night, NT Police said.

The men, aged 22 and 25, entered the bottle shop around 8:20pm, the staff told police.

They allegedly grabbed an unspecified number of bottles of alcohol and assaulted staff, after it’s believed the staff tried to stop them from stealing the items.

They immediately fled the store, while the staff was left with minor injuries.

NT Police said their CCTV operators tracked the two offenders in Bradshaw Terrace where police arrested the pair after a short foot pursuit.

One of the offenders allegedly threw bottles at a police officer during the pursuit.

The 22-year-old man has been charged with two counts of beach of bail and aggravated robbery, while the 25-year-old has been charged with aggravated robbery and assaulting police.

They are scheduled to appear at the Darwin Local Court Wednesday.

Meanwhile, last Wednesday, at Casuarina, a male shopper was allegedly threatened with a knife while defending a jewelry store staff from three female teenage thieves, where they attempted to steal from the store.

NT Police said the man allegedly tried to intervene when one of the offenders assaulted staff.

The offender was allegedly armed with a knife and pulled it on the man.

The youths have since been arrested. But charges were not disclosed.
