The UK has 140 actual Universities and 288 higher education organizations!
Who exactly will want to enroll in lowly ranked higher education organization that ranks at the bottom of 42 national universities (in Australia) when in the UK they have a smorgasbord of prestigious and established educational institutions totaling 5 times that of the 42 Universities in Australia.
This is a high risk desperate gamble with tax payers money! If this was a please invest with us offer sales pitch , I would politely decline and then run out of there.
Would not a presence whether actual educational delivery and/or pure marketing office in the core markets of Nepal, Bangledesh, India and Vietnam be a lower risk move?
When travelling through urban China, UK universities had pop up marketing in the shopping centers and subways with youthful UK nationals selling the dream to the same Chinese demographic (not bald, over weight, ‘visually unappealing ‘ ol farks making pompous speeches )! Would not copying that model be lower risk?
I agree that Indonesia would be the area to focus on , ithas the least number of competing Australian Universities, whilst Nepal has no Australian universities present!
Heres the list:
In Malaysia you can find:
-Curtin University Malaysia
-Monash University Malaysia
-Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak
In Indonesia you can find:
-Monash University in Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD) City in southwest Jakarta
In Singapore you can find:
-Curtin University of Technology
-Deakin University
-Edith Cowan University
-Flinders University
-Griffith University
In Vietnam you can find:
-RMIT
-Griffiths University
In India you can find
-DEAKIN uni with more to follow, namely: Western Sydney University, the University of Canberra, and La Trobe University ,Griffith University, James Cook University, and Flinders University
In Nepal you wont find any Australian uni’s
No Australia Universities, to my knowledge, have set up shop in the UK!
How cost effective would this be to send lecturers over in blocks? Accommodation, flights etc would negate any profit.
CDU has made poor decisions in the past, setting up a campus in Melbourne then failing to be able to renew the lease, setting up in Sydney and purchasing for millions a language centre in Cairns which was unprofitable and was sold at a loss. They need to focus on being a small niche university that plays to its strengths in tropical knowledge in both environment and diseases along with Indigenous Knowledges and Desert Knowledges. Their money troubles began when they tried to set up campuses in other places and made poor decisions. Also the top executive are grossly overpaid as they only recruit from south adding to their costs. And these people blow in and blow out.
