Overnight ram raid spree in Alice Springs under investigation

NT Police are investigating at least three ram raids that occurred around Alice Springs overnight, after a white Toyota Land Cruiser was allegedly stolen from an unnamed Barkly region community.

Police said the vehicle was stolen around 5:30pm on Tuesday and was then used in three known ram raids, including the first at around 11:50pm at a service station on Spearwood Road in Sadadeen.

Then at 2am, the same vehicle was used to ram raid another serivce station on Dalgety Road in Braitling.

The final one was at 3am at a business on the Stuart Highway, north of Alice Springs, police said.

“During each unlawful entry, extensive damage was caused to the premises and a number of small items were stolen,” said Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Chay McArthur.

“A number of people were believed to be involved at various stages of the offending with Strike Force Viper currently reviewing CCTV.”

Police said a black Land Cruiser had also been stolen from Desert Springs overnight but had since been recovered. The white Land Cruiser is still at large.

“Police are urging anyone with information, particularly dash-cam footage, to make contact on 131 444. Please quote reference 10116129,” Sgt McArthur said.

“You can make an anonymous report through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
