One Nation coming to Northern Territory

by | Nov 5, 2025 | News | 8 comments

Pauline Hanson’s One Nation is setting up shop in the Northern Territory to contest the next federal election and the next Territory election, with the goal to “break the major party duopoly” in the NT, a One Nation senator said.

The party said it has tripled its NT membership since May’s federal election and currently has 75 members here, which follows national polls showing the party has made significant gains in popularity across the country, reaching highs not seen since 1998.

WA Senator Tyron Whitten was in Darwin last month for the party’s first branch meeting, that saw 30 people attend at the Kalymnos Club, which followed a meet and greet function at the Virginia Tavern.

Entering the NT is part of the plan to break the “major party duopoly” in the NT, Mr Whitten said, adding the NT has been ignored by Canberra by both the CLP and Labor.

“One Nation is coming to the Northern Territory to stand with Territorians, shoulder to shoulder, and fight for a stronger, fairer Australia,” he said.

“For far too long, the NT has been ignored by Canberra and let down by both the CLP and Labor.

“We’re here to break the major party duopoly that has consistently failed Territorians.

“We’re here to bring back common sense, restore Australian values, demand accountability, and above all, give Territorians a real voice in Canberra.”

The party is looking to register as an official party in the NT early next year.

Recent national polling has put One Nation above the Greens, with the party gaining support from Australians under 30, while maintaining their older base.

The surge in support has also come from outside the major cities, according to pollsters.

A Newspoll conducted for The Australian released this week showed the Coalition’s primary vote has diminished to 24 per cent, down three points from September, with One Nation climbing to 15 per cent, ahead of the Greens at 11 per cent. Labor’s support in the latest poll was listed at 36 per cent.

The soaring cost of living, immigration, housing affordability and infrastructure, as well as a divided Coalition, were identified as issues that have have led to the increase in support for One Nation on the national stage.

  1. Who paid for Senator Whitten’s travel and accommodation costs. How are things going in the west Tyron?

  2. Oh yes immigration is a big issue. But who’s going to build all those new houses we need to improve affordability?

  3. ““We’re here to break the major party duopoly that has consistently failed Territorians.”

Wonder who you stole that idea from? You even used the exact same words. Interesting.

Also interesting that One Nation setting up shop gets an article but Change For Better Party plan doesn’t.

    • Maybe the difference is that One Nation don’t have 75% of their management committee (total membership?) hiding behind fictional avatars.

Don’t get me wrong – Ferg is a proven legend with a permanent legacy and I will fight anyone who says otherwise. But until you guys descend from your platform and engage with the reality of electoral politics – which includes names and faces – you are nothing more than conscientious objectors.

      • @old m8: Maybe focus more on the ideas of the Party – including how One Nation have already started to steal them while being helped by ‘Independent staff’ writers whoever that is – rather than getting upset about who’s supporting Ferg at this early stage.

Every Party has people you don’t know behind the scenes, maybe just giving moral support.

Nothing wrong with simple advocates and conscientious objectors either. Not everyone is comfortable thrusting themselves and their families into the public eye remember.

Also, if you trust Ferg, then you’ll trust him to surround himself with likeminded people. Some may want to stay in the background for now and there’s nothing wrong with that in our opinion.

  4. GO PAULINE OUST THESE LIARS, CHEATS AND THIEVES

  5. After 25 years supporting ALP I realise these political predators are part of the CLP Uniparty so I’ve joined One Nation. The NTG is a protection racket maintaining a dysfunctional expensive system. Charles Darwin suggests ‘adapt or die’’, Darwin is too small for the two-party unicameral parliament. Inuit community parliament would serve the community rather than 25 MLA,S who can hide, lie & cost a fortune.

  6. Is ‘Common Sense’ even legal in the NT?
