One man is dead and four others injured and in hospital following a fatal vehicle rollover near Kintore on a remote unsealed road, NT Police said.

The single vehicle rollover is believed to have occurred around 3:30pm Thursday, with police being alerted shortly after that time about the incident approximately 100km east of Kintore, a town 500km west of Alice Springs and 40 km from the Western Australia border.

Police attended the scene with the “assistance of the local clinic”.

One man was found dead in the vehicle and four other men were injured, with injuries ranging from minor to serious.

“All were flown to Alice Springs Hospital via Royal Flying Doctors Service,” police said in a statement.

“Major Crash detectives have attended the scene and are investigating the circumstances of the crash and will prepare a report for the Coroner.”

An update from NT Health later indicated that one man had stayed in Kintore with minor injuries while two remained in hospital in Alice Springs in a stable condition and another 60-year-old man had been flown to Adelaide with serious injuries.
