One person is dead and at least one other was reportedly injured in a two-vehicle crash near Batchelor around midday Sunday, NT Police said.
Emergency services, including CareFlight were alerted to the serious crash after one vehicle struck another near the intersection of Stuart Highway and Batchelor Road.
One person reportedly died at the scene while an elderly woman was reportedly airlifted to Royal Darwin Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Details of the conditions of others involved in the crash were not revealed Sunday.
“An elderly woman has been taken to Royal Darwin Hospital via CareFlight,” Detective Senior Sergeant Brendan Lindner said.
“Major Crash detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.”
Police had closed part of the Stuart Highway as the investigation process continued Sunday afternoon. No further details were provided.
