Darwin-based Australian Ilmenite Resources is facing up to $2 million in penalties after it was charged by NT WorkSafe following one of its workers suffering an electric shock at a mine site in the Roper Gulf Region last year.

NT WorkSafe reported that in 2022, a 36-year-old process operator on night shift received an electric shock to his hand while working on an electrical cabinet, attempting to restart pumping equipment, which had stopped, causing flooding in a minerals storage shed.
